M. Scott Avis, Certified Arborist

M. Scott AvisM. Scott Avis returned to the Triangle in 2003, after receiving his Bachelor of Science degree in Natural Resource Management with a concentration in Forest Resources from Western Carolina University in Cullowhee.

While studying forestry in the western portion of the state, Scott took advantage of the diverse surroundings of the Southern Appalachian Mountains . Working with the Mountain Aquaculture Research Center of Western Carolina University he learned first hand the importance of water quality in a forest ecosystem. Scott was fortunate to be a member of the Planning and Ecosystems Staff of the US Forest Service for National Forests in North Carolina. The Asheville based position kept him in the far reaches of southeastern mountain wilderness strapped to a heavy backpack. Not to mention wrestling rhododendron, while keeping one eye peeled for Eric Rudolph!

In the final year of his college career Scott worked with the Little Tennessee Sustainable Forestry Project . The project helps demonstrate for the landowner the need for proper forest stewardship in order to guarantee the longevity of our renewable resources.

Working with Monroe Timberland Consultants since Oct. 2003, Scott is constantly building on his education, while providing our clients with the professional assistance they've come to expect.
